Inspiration

In light of all the gay bullying and suicides I was inspired to write this.


The sun is high in the sky.
The leaves glisten so brightly.
There is a light, cool breeze.
The squirrels are running through the trees.
The birds are chirping.
The world is so full of hate and pain.
This scene in nature is my only escape.
I wish we as a human race, could be this way.
Instead we push, fight, and shove.
Sending all the peace and harmony nature stands for the the slaughter.
Today a mother buries her daughter.
Full of pain and agony.
Sending her daughter into eternity.
Why, you ask?
Its because of this, judgement.
Something we are not put here to do.
This child was gay.
She was bullied, tormented, and hit in the face.
So much so, she took her own life.
Never to see another day or night.
You shake your head in disbelief, maybe even sobbing.
But aren't we just as guilty as the bully?
We stood around and watched it go by.
Life. Such a precious gift.
Cut short because of pure ignorance.
All my life I have heard ignorance is bliss.
When in face, ignorance is just this... Ignorance.
There is nothing blissful about a child taking their own life.
Or watching her mother cry.
This child will never go to prom or wear a wedding dress.
At least now, she can truly rest.
Free of fear, resentment, and pain.
You may say she played God and took her own life.
But did it occur to you, how hard she tried.
Hiding who she was until it was too much to bare.
Drowning in a sea of judgement, fear, and despair.
Taking her own life, to get a breath of air.
This child is everywhere.
She may even be you.
If this is you, remember life is too sweet a gift to let an ignorant bully end it.
They are jealous, sad, and insecure.
Because at the end of the day, you now have the floor.
Speak YOUR truth and let YOUR light shine!
Now is YOUR time.
